Rock climbing is a sport in which people climb up across natural rock or across artificial walls. The main objective of the participant is to reach the end point through pre-defined route. Rock climbing is a very demanding sport in which participants have to work with full devotion and interests. Rock climbing gear:
Although it's possible to climb the rock without any gear or equipment but it's dangerous as well. So it's better to use gears while climbing the rock. A wide range of gears are used in Rock climbing. Following are some of them.
Shoes:
The most important gear in climbing rock is a good pair of shoes. For the past few years, there are many improvements have been made in climbing shoes. So now climber can easily climb those rocks that are impossible to climb in past. Usually climbing shoes has a stiff rubber sole that protects the climber foot from the sharp, rough edges of the rock.
Rope:
A modern climber uses a "climber's rope" for climbing purpose. A climbing rope is a key safety gear for the climber. Usually it's made of "kern mantle", consisting of nylon fibers, the kern, surrounded by a continuous braided nylon and finally the mantle. This rope can stretch a bit longer under tension. If a climber falls from Rock then this rope protects him/her by stretch a bit more and stops so a climber can easily stop. If this rope stops the climber at once then the climber may shuddered. These ropes specification is usually ten to eleven millimeter in diameter and fifty meters are in length. These ropes cost in between 100$ to 180$.
Carbines are metals with spring doors (opening), used as connectors. Once made primarily from steels, then these are made from aluminum alloy for recreational climbers and it's much lighter in weight than made from steel. Carabineers made from pure steel is much heavier and only instructors are used them when they are in groups.
Carabineers are available in different forms. Every climber uses them depends upon their needs and place. There are two major verities are available
Webbing:
Webbing or tape is in length which made of non-elastic nylon or spectra or combination of two. Tubular webbing is frequently used in climbing. Unlike climbing rope, it does not stretch under tension. Nylon webbing is most often used tied into loop.
" Harnesses
A climber uses harness to attach himself/herself with the rope. A typical way to attach with the rope has wide nylon belt for the waist and pair of leg loops for thighs. When it's supported by such harnesses, his legs have most of the weight so that's made it easier for climber to climb and should climb in balance.
Protection:
Protection is an object that can be placed in rock and after climbing it can be removed with the security. There are two types of protection that are used in Rock climbing. One is monolithic protection which has no moving parts and other is spring-loaded protection with many moving parts and that can move very easily.
Other gear's also includes Belay Devices, Rappel devices, Ascenders, Slings and many more gears are also used in Rock climbing.
